JD Matthews Associates, LLC is headquartered in Jenkintown Pennsylvania. We manage hotel construction projects throughout the Eastern half of the United States.
Due to an extensive and ever-growing database of subcontractors and suppliers, we are able to properly match them with each individual project. We utilize construction based software to insure schedules and budgets are maintained.
Each of our projects has its own dedicated management and supervision team, including a project manager, superintendent and trade foreman, thereby assurance that even the smallest detail is accounted for.
The president of JD Matthews Associates, LLC, Neil M. Lipschutz, takes a personal interest in each and every project. He makes it a priority to visit and inspect each project throughout the construction phase.
The practice of team building and partnering is always foremost in our overall strategy. This allows us to give 100% of our attention to the client. With clear, open communication, we gain a greater understanding of the client’s needs and of the total project. We then have the ability to deliver a product that exceeds the client’s expectations.

Neil M. Lipschutz
Mr. Lipschutz has been President of J D Matthews Associates, LLC since 2005. Mr. Lipschutz oversees the daily operations of the firm and is responsible for business opportunities and sales development. A graduate of the George Washington University (1979), Mr. Lipschutz went to work for one of Washington, DC’s most prominent contractors. After rising thru the company ranks to Chief Estimator and Senior Project Manager, he decided to return to his roots Pennsylvania and join his father’s firm.
It was then, that he began to put his mark on the local economy having secured contracts with major retailers like Kmart, Auto Zone, Modell’s Sporting Goods and regional development organizations. Realizing he was straying from the company’s preferred niche, Mr. Lipschutz rededicated himself and the company to return to its area of expertise-multi-family, senior housing and it’s off-shoot, hospitality construction. He quickly found that there were limited quality contractors in the hospitality and multi-family segment of the industry. His first hotel construction project was the West Chester Inn to be franchised to Holiday Inn. That lead to more projects, most notably, The Courts at Powelton Avenue. A $7.5 million-dollar project in Philadelphia and winner of the Mayor’s Community Development Award.
Mr. Lipschutz is married with two children, one in law school and one a MIS/Operations double major in college. He is active in local Little League administration and several other youth sports organizations. He is a licensed helicopter pilot.
Mr. Calhoun is the director of all field operations for J D Matthews Associates, LLC. He has been involved in construction projects throughout the United States and has worked on projects that included hospitals, hotels, biochemistry labs, airport construction and the development entire villages in Alaska. Mr. Calhoun is most proud of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley where he was the senior project manager.
Mr. Calhoun brings over 40 years of proven and successful industry experience directing the full scope of all construction projects. His record of application of common standards and best practices where standards and common practices alone are not enough, are unparalleled. He has effectively developed creative strategies and tactics in planning, executing and completing multi-million-dollar projects.
Mr. Calhoun has worked for some of the nation’s largest constructors including Peck-Jones, Lehere-McGovern Bovis, HBE Building Corporation and White Construction Company.
Mr. Calhoun is a United States Air Force veteran and life member of the Washington Masonic Lodge.
Chief Operating Officer
Diane Frame has worked with the Lipschutz family of business enterprises since 1982. She has dedicated her efforts to help bring a small business into the dynamic enterprise it is today.
The Courts at Powelton was one of her first projects with the firm and new to working with the City, State and Federal Government, she quickly learned their policies and procedures to streamline them in order to achieve maximum effectiveness on the project. Since then her role has grown along with her skills in finance, human resources and marketing. Her ability to analyze and interpret data assists our clients and vendors alike making her a valuable asset.
Ms. Frame realizes the importance of maintaining standard practices while accepting new ideas, implementing strategies for growth and communicating effectively. She takes pride in her role as our Chief Operating Officer.
Ms. Frame was a Girl Scout leader for 11 years and an avid gardener. She is married with two children.
